Neuschwanstein

Disney used it as inspiration when building Disneyland and in the movie Sleeping Beauty. Although it is flamboyantly exaggerated in the Disney animation you can still see many resemblances with the real castle of Neuschwanstein.

It is a building that is very known and recognizable from countless postcards, puzzles and movies. The first bricks were laid in 1880 and at the death of Ludwig II in 1886 the castle was still being built on. Before his death he spent a lot of time decorating the rooms which is to this day still magnificent.

Origin of Image

The man who planned and realized King Ludwig II´s architectural idea was Christian Jank. He was an stage decorator, which is well reflected in the design of the castle.

The castle has a variety of styles implemented in its design. It's all from Romanesque, Byzantine and Gothic stylistic features which is found in the castle's many rooms.

The medieval Grail legend is something that can be found everywhere in the castle's various designs.
